Thank you a lot Anthony for this video, could you help to advice me to build one? What kind of plastic is it? does a 16mm do it? how many meters did you use on the panel you show? once again, thank you a lot .
Wich temperature you reach with this panel?
How thick are the black tubes walls?
jorgerojo73 …The plastic piping is polypropylene piping used for gardening. I used 19mm and I think 16mm would work fine. You would need to make sure that your pump wouldactually get the flow through 16mm or buy a dedicated pump for this … you can find them on ebay fairly cheap. It is amazing how much piping I used in the roll that you see in the video. Try buying four or five hundred meters to start and see how that goes.
Hi. I get an increase of ten degrees celcius with a flow rate of ten litres per minute. The black tube walls are fairly thin. I don’t know where you live, but here in Australia the poly piping is in every gardening shop and in fact we have dedicated shops just for reticulation. Good luck with you plans
I tried a waste oil burner with copper coil but it’s a pain to find oil it worked but alot of upkeeping, so I am going to try your advise I bought 182m (600ft) of (25.4mm) 1″ black poly pipe to start with, I have a spare pump to use, but I am a little worried that the pump is going to push the water to fast through the pipe unless I put a ball valve and choke it off, but when I do that I may damage the pump. you mentioned that a larger pipe would work better, any suggestions.
Looks like mine-gets to boiling almost aswell in summer-doesnt yours make the pool go greener quicker though as algae loves warm water.
Yes. I do find it does, but obviously the warmer the pool , the faster things will grow, unfortunately for me I need to maintain all the chlorine levels , ph, etc by hand, which is a pain. But if you had an automated system , you wouldn’t know the difference, other than you would be using more chemicals, or salt or electricity etc.
Did you have any problems getting all of the air out of the tube? I had a friend do this type of thing only inside a hot box. He threw it away because he couldnt get the system bled.
Do you have any estimate on UV damage to the pipe ? willit stay as it is or will it become brittle and crack overtime ?
great work thanks, good idea
what about connecting a split on the drainage outlet with a switch valve that way the water is cycled straight back into the pool!!
Hi. I have had this working now for almost three years. I do get occassional cracks or bulges due to heat and uv damage. It is still working fine and for the price if it lasts another year I will be quite happy. Would love a backup system for winter to allow us to swim in the cooler parts of the year. Not sure what to do.
