This is my first step to make a woodgas generator for my lawn mower. The gascooler is a success. It is made of of 8 pcs 28 mm tubes. The gas is going up in the first 4 tubes across the manifold in the top, and down in the last 4 tubes. It looks like smoke from the blowertube. But it is gas that are burning.
how many watts consume the blower?
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designed a producer like your model. They tend to burn too cool and produce tar. I thought you did a good version. My FEMA unit was a bit simpler, but I learned lots. Look for FEMA woodgas and you will find lots of info.
My gasifier is not build like the FEMA.
And the gas is allmost free from tare after 15-20 min.
Very Cool. Can the cooling and filtering be accomplished by diffuser pipes into a biogas digester instead? This might provide the neede heat for anerobic digestion and the resulting gas could end up as a “fortified” gas (less nitrogen, added combustibles, use for excess heat)for use in an NG engine/gen set.
I want to see someone make one big enough for a generator to power up a home, and one that hooks up to a car engine with a bunch of old car alternators to power a home.. I would even pay for that one.
I have made a little unit with a 25 Hp watercooled Kolher engine, and and a 10 Kw Stamford Generator. It runs Great on Woodgas
Kewl My relitive pays 2,000 dollars a month in electric in the country. Been trying to find a cost effective way to generate electricity. Wind costs too much. They have car engines and lots of parts hanging around with pleanty of sticks, wood and grass.
The easiest filtration system I have seen is to just pass the cooled gas through a barrel filled with hay or straw. As long as the gas doesn’t burn the hay, it will be almost completely tar free.
