Scott Avenue Community Allotment

Scott Avenue Community Allotment, Chorlton Manchester

Sessions on Sat 11am & Sun 2pm & Wed 5pm. Follow the signpost at the end of Scott Ave! Wear boots/wellies, dress for the weather, bring gardening gloves! Regular commitment or drop in welcome!

Our long term aim is to create a vibrant, busy, educational growing area for vegetables, fruit, flowers a wildlife area, a facility for the community where individuals, schools & groups can learn about growing and gardening and become involved in allotment life, and where skills and creative ideas are shared.

Sustainable living, carbon reduction and organic growing are an integral part of the Grow For It ethos, and volunteers will have opportunities to develop, observe, and learn about such practices

We are working to restore the plot to make it an accessible, attractive and functional area for all sorts of activities. Currently we are developing the growing area, designing and building a shed with a living roof, creating paths, building raised beds for vegetables and a sensory flower border, completing the apiary compound ready to install bee colonies, erecting a polytunnel, plus discussing creative ideas to decorate and make the plot a special place for all involved.

We organize regular social events on the plot, which are attended by the volunteers and local community. Later in the year we will be organising talks and workshops also planting, growing, harvesting and cooking!

We would like to link up with community groups & other organisations interested in helping out, becoming involved or providing support and advice.

Please join the Yahoo group to receive regular emails about Grow For It news and activities, and have a look at the photo albums!
